Today it is hard to learn in what we call the United States without learning English, although we may soon be forced to also learn Spanish  But that in itself is not a reason to abandon the Lakota language.
 
Christian influence is Strong on almost all reservations. There are some good points in the belief and some that parallel traditional Lakota beliefs, that is the largest reason it was so easily acceptable to the Lakota people. The people could see the positive aspects of Christianity. The problems came when those Christians could not understand Lakota beliefs.
